OSLO, Norway ? The confessed killer in Norway's twin terror attacks that claimed 77 lives has presented a long list of "unrealistic" demands, including the resignation of the government and that his mental condition be investigated by Japanese specialists, his defense lawyer said Tuesday.

Geir Lippestad told the Associated Press his client has two lists of demands. One consists of requests common among inmates such as for cigarettes and civilian clothing. The other is "unrealistic, far, far from the real world and shows he doesn't know how society works," Lippestad said by telephone.

Lippestad said 32-year-old Anders Behring Breivik links this second list to his willingness to share information about two other alleged terrorist cells that Breivik has mentioned during questioning.

"They are completely impossible to fulfill," Lippestad said, adding that although Breivik has agreed to be examined by local psychiatrists, he also wants to be investigated by Japanese specialists.

"He claims the Japanese understand the idea and values of honor and that a Japanese (specialist) would understand him a lot better than any European would."

Lippestad said his client has also demanded complete political reform, in which he wants to be assigned a key role.

"His demands here includes the complete overthrowing of both the Norwegian and European societies," he said, noting it includes the resignation of the Norwegian government but declined to give further details. "But it shows that he doesn't understand the situation he's in."

Breivik claims he carried out the attacks as part of a network of modern-day crusaders ? the Knights Templar ? to launch a revolution against a Europe spoiled by Muslim immigration, and that there are other cells ready to strike.

Investigators say they have found no signs of a larger conspiracy. Still, they are searching his computer and cell phone records for any signs of contact with other right-wing extremists who may have helped or influenced him.

The July 22 bombing in Norway's government quarter in Oslo killed eight people and the shooting massacre at an annual summer retreat held by the Labor Party's youth wing claimed an additional 69 lives.

If Breivik is tried and convicted of terrorism he could face up to 21 years in prison. An alternative custody arrangement, however, could keep him behind bars indefinitely.

Modern power tools have come a long way. Any manual DIY job you can think of – there?s probably a power tool you can use do make the job easier, save time and end with a more professional finish. Power saws – if you?ve ever tried to saw something with a hacksaw or a manual handsaw then you know how much effort it takes. It?s hard work. If you?ve got a big bit of wood to cut, then you?ll probably end up with blisters and a sore arm. You?re risking splinters as well. This is where power tools save the day. Power saws make the job easier. It?s far quicker to cut through large bits of wood with a circular saw. They make light work of an otherwise long-winded, tiresome task. But most importantly they?ll get a straight cut. How many times have you managed a perfect cut with a handsaw? Similarly power jigsaws are ideal for cutting curves and patterns in wood.

Cordless drills – power drills are extremely common nowadays. Most people have probably never even seen a manual drill, let alone used one. Power sanders ? Have you ever tried sanding something down by hand? It can take hours and you might not get the ideal finish for your surface, which is especially frustrating when you?re going to paint or spray the surface afterwards. Power tools make light work of the task. You could breeze through the same job in a matter of minutes have end up with superior results. Of course, like other power tools, sanders come in a variety of shapes and sizes for every task imaginable. So you?ll need to choose carefully, although there are ‘multi-capable? sanders which can do a variety of jobs, sometimes a special sander will do a specific job more efficiently. Have you ever tried to sand a corner? There?s a sander for that. Got some heavy duty sanding work? Try a belt sander. Need an excellent finish? An orbital sander will probably work best.

General benefits of power tools – modern power tools come with all sorts of safety features to prevent injury from blades, electric shock, dropping hazards and other things that might put you at risk. Obviously there is more inherent risk with power tools, but you can keep yourself safe with goggles, gloves and appropriate protective wear.

Of course, you?ll spend a bit more money on power tools than standard hand tools ? but you?ll do a better job and save yourself time in the long run. You know what they say about time being money. Of course, when you?ve come home from a long day at work or are looking to do some DIY at the weekend, the last thing you want to do is spend hours with a hammer or some sandpaper in your hand. DADAAB, Kenya (AP) ? As the Islamic holy month of Ramadan begins, Faduma Aden is fasting during the day even though she doesn't have enough food to celebrate with a sundown feast. The Somali mother of three, who fled starvation in her homeland and now lives at a Kenyan refugee camp, says she will fast because she fears God.

Muslims around the world mark sundown during the holy month of Ramadan that began Monday with extravagant dinners after not eating from sunrise to sundown. That kind of nighttime celebration is unthinkable this year for most Somalis, who already are suffering empty stomachs during the worst famine in a generation.

Despite the lack of food, for Somalis like Aden it's a matter of faith to participate in Ramadan's fast, even though Islam allows the ailing to eat. Others, though, are ashamed they don't have enough food for the sundown dinner.

"How I will fast when I don't have something to break it?" said Mohamed Mohamud Abdulle. "Today is the worst day I ever faced. All my family are hungry and I have nothing to feed them. "I feel the hunger that forced me from my home has doubled here."

Tens of thousands of Somalis already have fled starvation to the world's largest refugee camp in neighboring Kenya, where Abdulle said people can't fast without food "to console the soul" at sundown.

For most of the Muslim world, Ramadan this year falls at a time of rising food prices and political upheaval. Food prices typically spike during the Muslim religious month, and the elaborate dinners many in the Middle East put on to break the daily fast drive a deep hole in household budgets.

Somalis fleeing famine say they have been unintentionally fasting for weeks or months, but without the end-of-day meal to regain their strength.

"I cannot fast because I cannot get food to break it and eat before the morning," said Nur Ahmed, a father of six at a camp for internally displaced people in Mogadishu called Badbado. Ahmed's wife died last year during childbirth, he said.

Sheik Ali Sheik Hussein, a mosque leader in Mogadishu, called it "worrying" that many Somalis cannot fast because they don't have the food to break it with.

"We have asked all Muslims to donate to help those dying from hunger," he said. "Muslims should not be silent on this situation, so we shall help if Allah wills."

President Barack Obama, in a Ramadan statement Monday, said that fasting can be used to "increase spirituality, discipline, and consciousness of God's mercy." Obama said now is a time for the world to come together to offer support to famine relief efforts.

"The heartbreaking accounts of lost lives and the images of families and children in Somalia and the Horn of Africa struggling to survive remind us of our common humanity and compel us to act," Obama said.

Some in the communities around the Dadaab refugee already have followed that advice by helping hungry refugees moving into the region. At the Dagahaley refugee camp, part of the larger Dadaab camps, three distributing centers run by local elders provide food and money each day to more than a 1,000 families and individuals.

"The hunger and sufferings faced by the new arrivals have moved us into action," said Hussein Sheik Mohamed, who is a part of a team of volunteers that receives donations from former refugees and other Somalis in Kenya and around the world and then distributes them.

Moved by tragic scenes of haggard mothers and emaciated children, Somalis in the diaspora are wiring hundreds of dollars to community leaders so they buy food and clothes for the new arrivals.

The Dadaab initiative started with people at nearby mosques who wanted to respond to the needs of refugees pouring into this camp. They called former refugees to help new arrivals with whatever they can find: Food, money, clothing and mattresses were donated.

The U.N. says more than 11 million people in the Horn of Africa need food aid, but that 2.2 million need aid in a region of south-central Somalia controlled by the al-Qaida-linked militant group al-Shabab, which has not let many aid agencies operate in its territory, including the U.N. World Food Program.

In a bit of good news, though, the International Committee of the Red Cross said Monday it is distributing food to 162,000 people in south-central Somalia affected by drought and armed violence. The food distributions in south-central are the first large-scale distributions in that regions since the beginning of the year, it said.

"This operation demonstrates the ICRC's ability to deliver emergency aid directly to the people affected in southern Somalia," said Andrea Heath. "But this distribution assists only a small percentage of those in need. More aid will be required to help the population bridge the gap until the next harvest in December."

Salad Salah is one of those still in need. He fled to a refugee camp in Mogadishu, and said that participating in Ramadan this year would be a form of "suicide."

"We wouldn't like to miss Ramadan but the conditions here say we must," he said.
