Mum In The Spotlight ? Bopping Babies' DJ Bubbles

Hi, my name is Polly Thatcher aka DJ Bubbles. I am a full-time Mum to 3 children; Rowan (7), Millie (5) and Dominic (7 months) ? a very cheeky baby that defied all the normal?pregnancy planning!

Three and a half years ago I set up Bopping Babies so that I could work for myself, around the demands of a busy family with young children. Although I?had thought about the concept for quite some time, my original idea had to be put?on hold as my daughter, ?Millie,?was born 3 months early. We faced some hefty?challenges in the early months of her life, a long stay in hospital followed by a?catalogue of health issues when she came home. Once Millie was over a year old I?felt I could start looking at my idea and bring it to life. I?began scoping out the ?Big Idea?, doing research into baby?discos ? I visited ?Baby Loves Disco? but otherwise?found very few pre-school led ?disco? concepts. I?d identified a?gap in the market that I could fill and so set about devising a class for pre-school children to enjoy with their carers. I started planning weekly sessions: ideas for props, researching?suitable themes and I started listening to generations of disco music and?contemporary songs that could be used.

About Bopping Babies

On Wednesday 9th September 2009?Bopping Babies was born at Bramley Village Hall. Initially just?monthly sessions until I had enough content to start weekly?sessions. Since 2010, I have tried?a few different venues around Basingstoke but the constant regular?weekly sessions continue to be found at Chineham Village Hall and Bramley.

The sessions are a mix of dance and play. Each class provides 40 minutes of guided dancetime using props and instruments followed by refreshments and toys.?I also regularly run themed sessions i.e. pirates?and princesses, jungle animals as well as seasonal specials for Easter,?Christmas, Hallowe?en etc which has allowed additional creativity and the chance to scour for new music?to help build up the different themes. And plenty of opportunity to dress up

Music and dance is beneficial to all ages and these sessions allow pre-schoolers to?burn off excess energy, improve their physical tone and co-ordination and most of?all boost their confidence when dancing alongside their peers. The volume of the music isn?t be too loud and certainly not harmful to little ear drums so please rest assured.?Getting involved in?a session with your child will allow you to connect with both your toddler and your inner?child again.

Session details:

Wednesdays 10.30 Chineham Village Hall Returns 17th April 2013

Bopping Parties

Alongside Bopping Babies I have also set up Bopping Parties ? parties for children between the ages of 2?and 12 years. ?Bopping Babies? parties and ?Bopping Juniors? parties are great fun events which can be booked for any occasion; birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, toddler group parties? the list is endless. ?Theme requests are also possible i.e. pirates and princesses, dinosaurs etc.

The parties always include a great playlist of party and action tunes to get the?children involved and excited to get up and dance. And no party would be complete without the magical?ingredients: bubbles, props & instruments, games and dance activities.?The parties are easily adapted to suit the age of the children and the music, games and activities are tailored accordingly.

Thank you,
Polly Thatcher (Creator and Founder and current session facilitator)
